Before Buying the Wrong Night Cream: Look for these Ingredients!N

By Dr. Samantha Fine

The internet is flooded with reasons why you should use a night cream. But there is a dearth of information about which ingredients your night cream must have.

You must buy only night creams that contain the following three types of compounds. Avoid night creams that do not have the proper concentrations of (a) cellular renewal compounds that rejuvenate the skin at the epidermis' microscopic level, (b) collagen enhancers that boost skin elasticity, firmness, and smoothness; and (c) free radical fighters composed of antioxidants that reverse the aging impact of the environment and sunlight.

Ultimately you should choose a moisturizer that has as its base, a wonderful natural moisturizers. Some great creams rely on: (a) caviar (fish egg) emolients to nourish and rejuvenate the skin; (b) tea, leaf, marine, and yeast extracts to revitalize the cellular renewal processes; and (c) time release capsules containing a mixture of moisturizers that should be used overnight to continually renew and refresh the skin while you sleep.

Be aware that price is not always an indicator of quality. Find and buy only a night cream with the right ingredients in the right concentration. However because you must use a product for at least 6-8 weeks to see improvement picking the right night cream is that much more essential. If you choose the wrong night cream you'll waste as much as two months. During this time you won't be fighting the ravages of the environment or time and wrinkles and you might be damaging your skin.

Shopping for the right products, discussed above, can be time consuming. While your favorite boutique could have great products, often they carry a limited selection and getting there can be such a battle. I recommend one source: http://www.nighttimemoisturizers.com. This site is devote solely to night cream and contains a treasure trove of information and articles on this subject. You will find products that contain all of the ingredients that I've discussed in this article and they have products at every price point for every skin type.
