2008 Box Office Hits By Druti

By Derek Fisch

I have put together a short list of the more popular movies put up on the big screen in 2008. I have chosen a few of the films that I think you might like. Hopefully you will see a couple of movies that you will enjoy.

ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, a couple of energy drink promoters, might be seeing some hard jail time after destroying the company vehicle while binging. The way they can avoid going to prison is to work in community service for 150 hours. They will have to mentor some kids in a big brother type situation. The stage is set for some good comedy.

HAMLET 2: Unsucessful actor Dana Marshz now finds himself teaching high school theatre to apathetic students. When a building is destroyed at the school, the administration decides the useless theater coarses will have to go. With a challenge now in front of him, he is determined to save the program by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he creates.

TROPIC THUNDER: With a collection of acting greats this outrageous flick is a spoof on vietnam war movies. To get better results from his spoiled actors to make a true epic masterpiece, the desperate director into the middle of nowhere, leaving them to fend for themselves. The object is to overwhelm them into the realism needed for a graet war film, that will be recorded on hidden cameras. When the director blows up on an old French land mine, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they think there acting, but things are getting very, very real. Written, directed, and acted in, by Ben Stiller.

10,000 B.C.: This film will take you back 1,000's of years. When mysterious warlords from another tribe attack the Yaghai's, they capture, among others, Evolet. A young hunter named D'Leh, who is in love with her, organizes a band of hunters to chase down these warmongers, and save her, and the rest of the captured tribe members.

THE DARK KNIGHT: In this film Batman, along with Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, are taking the major criminals off the streets. This has effectively reduced crime, until a new criminal mastermind shows up, and attacks the city. Batman has his work cut out him now, as the Joker is dispensing an overwhelming assault on Gotham City.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As the title suggests, this is the continuation to the highly acclaimed Madagascar. Our cast of lost animals, Alex (Lion), Marty (Zebra), Glorial (Hippo), and Melman (Giraffe) want to go back to New York's famous Central Park Zoo, which is the only home they know. Instead, with the Penguins leading them astray, they are heading off to Africa instead.

GET SMART: Maxwell Smart (agent 86) is here again, and everything is under "CONTROL". The classic James Bond spy spoof, the shoe phone, and the cone of silence. It is fun to have another glimpse back at the 1960's spy spoof series.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL: Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) returns to action, after a long break. This is the most recent movie in the Indiana Jones movies. In this, the latest adventure, an older Indiana takes on the Russians. The Soviets are looking for ancient relics called the Crystal Skulls, which are thought to have secret powers.

STEP BROTHERS: When two child like older men, who both live at home with one parent, find themselves having to share a room because their mom and dad get married, you have one crazy situation. Having the combination of Reilly and Ferrell as the key players, and the table is set for a very fun film. This film is a sure fire bet for a good laugh in 2008.

These days just about everyone buys or rents these movies, and watch them at home. A new way people are aquiring movies is through downloads from online sources. The internet has many websites that offer downloading of tons of different movies. - 15275
