Looking for a Healthy Meal? Try Fresh Lobster!

By Shannon Linnen

When you're on a diet, it can be maddening trying to get the nutrients you need, and still lose weight. One of the hardest things is trying to find a lean protein that's good for you, and that you like to eat. Tofu is always an option, but isn't the same as meat. Red meat isn't an option of course, but chicken gets tiring, after a while. And fish has been reported to have high mercury levels, meaning you shouldn't eat it every day. So what protein can you enjoy? How about some fresh lobster!

Many of us have long believed that lobster is bad for you. It tastes so great, and feels so deliciously indulgent, that eating it must be cheating. In fact, this just isn't true. Lobster, at 90 calories per three and a half ounces, is actually better for you than other protein rich meats, like steak and even chicken. This means that including lobster in your diet is, unbelievably I know, a great way to get trim and stay healthy while doing it. Fresh lobster is a must add protein to your meals.

It may be hard to swallow that lobster is good for you, when all of the information you've seen in the past is that it's unhealthy. But the fresh lobster meat itself has always been healthy, it's simply the way that it's been prepared that hasn't fit a dieters lifestyle. By dipping fresh lobster in butter, the calorie and fat count of course goes up. And there is a lot of fat in a creamy soup like a lobster bisque. But when prepared, a lobster is steamed, meaning the meat itself is free from oils and fats.

Lobster is healthy for many reasons, but did you know that fresh lobster meat is a great source of omega three fatty acids. This is something you may have been hearing more about lately. Omega three's are naturally found in many types of shellfish and other fish. They are thought by doctors to help promote and improve your heart health, so much so that they're now being added to many other foods. Fresh lobster is a great way to get them naturally. It's also a great source of protein to keep your energy high.

Are you stuck for how you can enjoy lobster in a healthy way that will complement it? Here are some simple ideas. For a quick snack, try a few pieces on some rye bread. The strong flavors play off each other nicely. You can also add texture and flavor to a vegetable filled salad with some chunks of lobster. It's an easy and low calorie way to get some protein. Feeding the family? Prepare whole wheat pasta with olive oil, and add some pieces of lobster. It's elegant and good for you.

Are you ready to ditch the chicken and bring in the fresh lobster? I know I am! Fresh lobster is a great and healthy alternative to boring, tired old menus, so spice up your dinner tonight! - 15275
