Preventing Acne: A Guide

By James Orth

It's a familiar feeling. You wake up in the morning and look in the mirror to see new pimples on your face. Acne is a common skin problem, but one that is surprisingly difficult to deal with at times. Unfortunately, there is no easy, fool proof way of preventing acne, but I can share a few tips that I've learned about.

Keeping your skin very clean is the first key to acne prevention. Oil and dirt will cause acne by clogging up your pores. By using cleansers and astringents to wash away this oil and dirt.

Another key thing is to make sure that you don't pop any of your pimples While this might seem like a good way of getting rid of the unsightly whiteheads, this can lead to scarring, which is much worse for you in the long run I'm sure you'll agree.

Make sure that you keep your hands away from your face. Touching your face can transfer dirt and oils which will only make the problem worse. If you are going to touch your face with your hands, wash them first.

What you choose for your diet can be an important step in the fight against acne. It appears as if certain high fat foods can make pimples more pronounced. Ironically, there is some research to suggest that ingesting a good portion of healthy omega 3 fatty acids can lead to better skin. Omega 3 is commonly available in the form of fish oil supplements.

As a last resort, you should seek professional help in a dermatologist. They have special medicines and treatments that might work better for you. Of course, these often have unwanted side affects, but it may be worth checking into if you have a really bad case.

There are also natural acne remedies to consider. Possible treatments involve different herbs and natural cleansers. Some of these may be effective but I have never tried them myself.

Overall, there is no fool proof way of getting rid of acne. However, if you follow these tips, you should find it easier to keep things under control. - 15275
