Dying to Lose Weight, But How To Start

By Henry John

Are you dying to lose those extra pounds that have accumulated round your middle? Are you filled with indecision as to what to do?. So what's the best way to get into shape?

Getting started in anything is always the hardest thing to do. A good idea is to sit down and examine what you are doing that made you put on all this extra weight in the first place.

There are probably many reasons why you've put on weight. You've probably got some pretty good excuses. Some of them might be valid, but the fact remains that you've got to do something about it. Are you prepared to get to grips with the problem? Are you prepared to really make a supreme effort?

It takes determination if you're going to succeed. It means saying goodbye to the chocolate bars, to the cream cakes and to the delicious bread you like so much. You have to start to become aware of the calorie content of what you're eating.

Have you any idea how many calories there are in the food that you eat every day. Is it a lot of a little? You may think it's not much, but it may be much more than you think. Do you know how many calories you should take in every day? You need to be aware of these facts before you go any further or you are likely to make some fundamental mistakes.

What you must not do is to suddenly stop eating and reduce your calorie intake dramatically. If you do the long-term consequences will be that you put on weight - not take it off.

What about exercise? Do you know how much you take? Do you take any at all? Exercise, if it is to be of any use to you at all, has to be 'intentional' exercise. Exercise that makes a difference and actually gets your blood flowing.

What you need to understand is that exercise burns calories - it's also good for you. It keeps you alert and healthy. If you're serious about losing weight you should start to think about making an exercise plan. Exercise needs to become a habit - a slim habit, if you like. If you are prepared to change you have a better chance of being successful at losing weight. Change will come from learning new habits.
