How To Derive The Best Benefits From Your Violin Lessons

By Jake Lehomme

Violin lessons have never been cheap and for anyone who has signed up for them, effort must be made to make the best use of what they paid for. Would you want to fritter your money away and find that nothing of value was learned because of a lack of attention during class? If you are determined to learn how to play the violin, then do your best to abide by the following steps during lessons:

1. Concentrate fully during the lessons. If you allow yourself to be distracted, be it by your cell phone, friends, television or others, then there are bound to be details missed when the teacher is instructing.

2. It has been shown that anyone can absorb more when there are audio visual aids provided. You can create your own during the lesson by recording what has been taught. The material can then be reviewed back at home and provide on the spot assistance instead of waiting for the next lesson.

3. Get the best teacher that you pay for. This is most applicable for students who have signed up for school courses. Request for the best teacher on their payroll so that you derive the best benefit for every dollar spent.

4. There is no point attending lessons with a poor quality violin that might break down anytime. You have already spent money for violin classes, why not fork out a bit more for a dependable and quality violin? You will be able to learn better and faster with one.

5. Bombard your teacher with questions on anything that you need further explanations on. Many of us are often afraid to speak up or clear our doubts in class for fear of saying the wrong things. But the ones who learn are those who understand that ignorance will hinder progress.

6. The most important times for violin practice are right before and after each lesson. Those are the times when your mind is at the most alert and by practicing again, it will help reinforce the techniques taught. Most students might be lazy to do so, but the results might surprise and turn them into converts.

If you can include the above suggestions into your routine during, before and after lessons, then the violin might not become that difficult to figure out. It is always a waste of money and time to spend on lessons if one does not make the best effort to get the most out of them. Do not make the same mistake as many have done before you. - 15275
